Full-grain leather refers to hides that have not been sanded or buffed (unlike top-grain leather) to remove natural marks or imperfections on the surface of the hide. This leaves the grain intact with its own fiber strength, durability, and attractive appearance. It's the best leather out there.

All of the metalware on the apron comes from a Walsall foundry that has been producing high-quality buckles in the UK since 1832 and holds a Royal Warrant of Appointment. And to give it that added touch of ownership, Risdon & Risdon offers a complimentary embossing service, where they can add your name or initials free of charge.

Chef Chris Burt from The Mytton and Mermaid Hotel in the UK requested a leather apron that was comfortable to wear even for long hours spent standing in a hot kitchen. They made him a cross-back apron that fits close to the body and distributes the weight evenly — the leather also acting as a heat shield from the hot stoves. Chris wanted a low bib to hang his plating tweezers from, and deep pockets for keeping tongs and other chef essentials close by. The supple leather will withstand hot spills, yet will easily wipe clean for years of service.

The apron was carefully hand-skived to enable beautifully turned stitched edges to add strength and to stop the leather from curling. The cross-back straps were precisely edged and softened to give the most comfortable fit, while the rear belt has eyelet holes for extra strength and durability — all attached using nickel-plated brass buckles made to the highest standard.

Finally, the embossed Risdon & Risdon logo patch was added so that in years to come, it will prove its authenticity of British handmade craftsmanship.
